Real feedback from customers using Ralcam on real inspection jobs.
One of the biggest reasons I bought this particular model (in addition to being dual camera) is that the camera articulation lever can be worked from both the front and the back. What this allows is that, even though I use my thumb to control it in normal use, I can use my index finger in back to hold that articulation in place and then use that same thumb to take a picture or start videos on the button right next to it — all while still having my other hand free to manipulate the flex tube. This is VERY beneficial when you're trying to finesse your way to a particular view, as taking your other hand off the tube to do the same functions with two hands could easily ruin that finessing.
The dual-lens setup (allowing you to view both the front and the side) is super helpful in tight spaces. When inspecting an engine cylinder, for example, the split-screen mode allows you to view the top of the piston and the cylinder wall side-by-side simultaneously. The 4-way joystick control for the probe is the real star of the show. I have used other borescopes with a basic 2-way dial control, which forces you to awkwardly twist the actual snake cable to get a full 360 view. The 4-way joystick on this Ralcam eliminates that hassle. It is smoother and more intuitive in every direction.
These tools are fantastic for getting a view in the walls, wells, and holes around your property. There are a thousand different varieties, and it looks like this one is a new “kind” of design, complete with a hard case and a new screw-on build.
The good? This scope is as good as it gets. The clarity of both cameras is equal to the best I've seen, and the control is *chef's kiss.* This really does go where you want it to go, and the controls are incredibly intuitive for the scope.
The meh? I am not a big fan of the screw-on build. For one, you can't actually charge this device from just the screen or just the handle. You have to build the thing to recharge, which means it can't go back in the box until you finish charging and take it all apart.
If this is your first boreoscope, you're getting just about as good as you can get. This has every feature I am looking for.
The standout feature is the 4 way 360° articulation. Being able to physically steer the camera head using the thumbwheel on the handle changes everything. Instead of fighting the cable to see a specific valve inside a cylinder or a leak behind a wall, you just feed it in and drive the lens exactly where you need it to look. The dual lens setup is a massive upgrade over older models that required you to snap on a tiny, easily lost mirror to see sideways. With the push of a button, you can toggle between the front view and side view cameras. This is particularly indispensable for automotive work, you can look straight down at a piston head and then switch to the side view to inspect the cylinder walls or valve seats without moving the cable an inch.
I initially ordered this to use in my Mustang convertible. Over the decade I have owned it, the drainage holes have repeatedly clogged, causing water to flood the interior. It has been such a headache. The drainage holes are in a spot where I cannot see them from inside the car and sometimes not even from the outside. I did not want to risk dropping my phone inside the body panel, so this little camera felt like the perfect solution.

Overall, I am very happy with this little camera and everything it can do. I would recommend it.
